Mediterranean Sea Bass

The sea bass was quite tender with strong charred taste on the skin. Not bad dish but can you see the whole dish colour looked very dull together with the courgettes.. Perhaps the chef should take note of the colour presentation. If the colour of the fish is already so dark, shouldn't paired with dull side dish colour...

Oven-Baked Spring Chicken
The meat was bland and a tad tough.

Overall Impression: The service here was quite good except there were a few times that I couldn't get the staff's attention. Though there were 10 dessert selections, but I just don't fancy these type of desserts that they served at One-Ninety except the soy bean panna cotta. (This is my own preferences, nothing to do with their dessert quality). Appetisers were ok. Overall the appetiser and dessert selection were quite boring. perhaps the dinner buffet will be more sumptuous.

The quality of their Main Course were decent, nothing impressive. Presentation of the food were also lacklustre. We were a tad disappointed with their food quality and presentation. Most likely we will not return again.

Visited on 20 March 2016 (Sun).  Golden Peony is a sophiscated Chinese restaurant that serves refined Cantonese cuisine. Helmed by Executive Chinese Chef Ku Keung together with an established team of Hong Kong culinary experts. The Cantonese ingredients were specially imported from diverse regions of China. Golden Peony boasts an extensive wine list, specially chosen to complement Cantonese cuisine.

I went there during the Restaurant Week to enjoy the 4 Course Set Lunch promotion price of $40++ per person.

Jelly Fish topped with Ginger and Spring Onion
Sliced Drunken Chicken
Golden-fried Prawn coated with Blueberry Sauce and Fresh Fruits
I'm very impressed with this trio! Nice Jelly fish. The drunken chicken was really very tender with a fragrant wine taste. And I'm really very impressed with their version of golden fried prawns. The prawns were very crispy and the chef was really innovative that I never thought fried prawns and blueberry sauce can complement so well together. I'm a person who dislike blueberry but surprisingly, I love how the overall taste is. The blueberry sauce together with the mango and strawberry bits, added a touch of refreshing taste to the fried prawns. Love this to the max!!!

Double-boiled Abalone, Bamboo Pith & Wolfberries in Superior Fish Broth
I still can remember how robust this broth was. We can taste all the goodness inside the broth. Excellent soup with yummy succulent abalone!!!

Crispy Egg Noodle Ball served with assorted Seafood

This was another fantastic special dish - A main course that will definitely made you full! Firstly, I would like to compliment the round ball shape of the crispy egg noodle was done really well. There were 2 slices of fried duck served alongside! Fried duck is not a common menu in hotel chinese restaurants so I was really delighted to see it at Golden peony and I really love it!! And we get to eat cod fish slice, prawn, quite big scallop, mushroom, carrot etc...

Chilled Cream of Avocado topped with Vanilla Ice-Cream
The avocado cream was very creamy and very smooth, taste so great with really premium type of vanilla ice-cream! A wonderful dessert to end the 4 course meal!

Overall Impression: Golden Peony is a famous cantonese restaurant with high quality food. The service here was good as well. They served premium food here hence the prices are slightly on the higher side, but you can get a better quality and enjoyable food. I noticed the guests here were mostly older age type so Golden peony will be a good place to bring your dad and mum or the whole family here for a delightful and sumptuous meal!

Note: The aircon here was really cold. Please bring along a jacket, shawl or thicker clothes along.
