Visited on 14 March 2016 (Mon). Ash & Elm is the new modern European restaurant that has replaced Olive Tree. Ash & Elm comprises three culinary theatres including a charcuterie and cheese room, wood-fired oven and an open charcoal-grill kitchen. 

Semi-Buffet Lunch (Monday to Saturday, 12pm to 3pm) : 

$28++ per person (Appetizer, Soup & Dessert Buffet)

$38++ per person (Choice of 1 Main Course + Appetizer, Soup & Dessert Buffet)


$48++ per person (Choice of 1 Main Course (Beef Option) + Appetizer & Dessert Buffet)

Note: Citibank card discount of 15% is only applicable to Semi-Buffet with a Main Course option

Tiramisu in Jug
Their version of Tiramisu was quite different from the usual Tiramisu that we have seen. Their Tiramisu includes some grass jelly cubes with cookie crumbs on it, the mascarpone cheese a tad too creamy and infused with liquor in a pipette for you to squeeze how much alcohol you want. Perhaps I'm not used to this type of innoactive Tiramisu, so I find it not bad only...

My Selection of Main Course from Semi-Buffet Menu: 
Roasted French Free-Range Yellow Chicken Supreme
This version of yellow chicken under the semi-buffet lunch menu (Photo above) is totally different from the yellow chicken under their Ala Carte menu (Photo below). Read fantastic reviews about this yellow chicken but turned out to be totally different and tasted quite badly so was rather disappointed. I would suggest you either order another Main Course or you order the Yellow Chicken from the Ala Carte menu instead. Do note that you need to pay $29++ if you ordered from A la Carte menu but you'll get a better quality as per the photo below.

Seasonal Souffle (Pistachio Souffle) $15++

I have requested for an additional order of their seasonal souffle few days before my arrival as the chef needs ample time to prepare this. It was a Pistachio Souffle! Their souffle was really fluffy with very aromatic pistachio taste, complemented well with the green tea ice-cream!

This was a surprise from their pastry team for our anniversary celebration! They look so pretty and creative isn't it? Love it!!! :)

Overall Impression: The service was very attentive that day as there was no crowd. The buffet selection of appetizers and desserts at the buffet counter were very little since the price is not high. 

Their appetizers did not interest us. Main Course was disappointing. Only the desserts were slightly better. Ambience was nice, this place will be good for special occasion celebration during dinner as the place will transform into a very romantic ambience with the lightings and more to a fine dining place. Heard that their Ala Carte food were much better!

If you're looking for a lovely and romantic place, don't mind in an alfresco setting, (notwithstanding the hot weather in Singapore), Pool Grill @Marriott Hotel definitely is the ultimate poolside luxury for you. Enjoy a relaxing brunch, lunch or dinner with their resort style background music...They have a big and strong ceiling fan, so you will not feel that warm after some time.











Strawberry Mint Lemonade
(Non-Alcoholic Cocktail)
I think this will be a popular drink for the ladies! A refreshing fruity, sweet and tangy drink to sip on during a hot day. Love it!



Complimentary warm Foccacia bread to kick off the meal! 





Norwegian Salmon ($32++)

A generous, thick steak of norwegian served with hierloom tomato sauce vierge. Salmon skin was seared crisp and cooked to medium. Lightly flavoured so you can taste the freshness of the salmon itself. A little bland for me personally, but otherwise fresh and succulent.


Pan-Fried Cod Fish ($36++)


This was Da Bomb! I can tell you this was really the BEST Cod Fish that I had so far. The exterior was fried to perfection, extremely crisp, yet the meat remained tender and juicy. The texture was the perfect consistency. The natural sweetness of the cod went so well with the buttery shiraz reduction sauce. Just heavenly...This was too good that the staff told me they only left with the last piece that evening so I asked the staff to quickly key in this order immediately for me! Kiasu me.. Haha.. So happy that I managed to try this! :)






Dessert: Chocolate Tart, Salted Caramel, White Coffee Ice-Cream
As their popular desserts like Bombe Alaska and Banoffee were not available that day, so I decided to try their chocolate tart.  I like the crunchy biscuit base with the chocolate tart but the chocolate was a tad too solid. The white coffee ice-cream was very light. Overall still quite nice when you have it together with the biscuit crumbs aside!

Overall Impression: Service here was polite and good! I was very satisfied with the high quality food and dessert here! Ambience was very relaxing as the songs that they played here were soothing resort style music. Prices are quite steep for ala carte order. Go for their set lunch or set dinner with a smaller portion but affordable prices if you have a budget. This place is great for special occasions (Provided you don't mind it's non-aircon) Otherwise come here for their cocktails!
