Visited on 14 Feb 2015 (Sat) - Valentine's Day! Makan@Jen is situated in the new 4-star hotel at prime location and was launched in Sep 2014. An all-day dining restaurant that offers both a la carte and buffet-style options with a variety of cooking stations, make-your-own salad options, local temptations and international treats.

The moment I stepped into Makan@Jen, I was like "Wow"... Cos there's only a few hotel restaurants in full glass window with some view in Singapore and this restaurant is so big and airy, it really gives people a very delightful impression upon arrival.

Look out for this small signboard to Makan@Jen!

And here it is - Entrance of Makan@Jen!

Photos below show full introduction of the ambience and seating area for the whole restaurant!

These are the front seats area near the food buffet

These are the front seats area by the window

These are the back sofa seats area by the window

These are the center sofa seats area beside the dessert counter

And finally these are the back seats near the bar counter and beautiful alfresco garden!

This is the beautiful alfresco garden just outside Makan@Jen! You can actually come out to enjoy breeze and relax before or after your meal ...

Really appreciate the effort of the team for their sweet artwork deco on every desk for VDay - Great I'm Yours! :-D

A small gift for every couple - Jellybean (Would prefer maybe a small heart shape photo frame, keychain or chocolate maybe?)

The coffee from this machine was really quite good!

A few selections from Dilmah Tea!

Free flow of Iced Peach Tea, Iced Water and Iced Lemon Tea!

All these seafood will greet you first when you enter the restaurant!

Baked Lobster with cheese and mushroom! Delish!

Grilled Lobster!

Marinated Squid and Grilled Salmon! Their marinated squid was fantastic! The squid was Q and the marinated sauce was super yummy - Keep going back for more - Must try! The grilled salmon was decent, a tad tough..

Make your own Rojak!

Bread Counter

Laksa!

The roasted duck was quite nice except the meat was a tad tough...

Dim Sum

More Seafood Behind

I like the chilli crab sauce, thick with a tad spicy! They have mantou for you to dip the sauce too! Look-out for this, crab lovers!

Make your own salad

Dessert Counter

Desserts in chiller
I think it's good to have desserts placed in a chiller so that the desserts will remain chilled no matter we have it how long later!

Mini Swiss Roll

Tiramisu
Surprisingly the tiramisu here was very good! The texture, cocoa powder and the sweetness were all just right with aromatic espresso taste!

Baked Cheese Cake

Lemon Tart

Pandan Creme Caramel
I'm a super Pandan lover and I was so happy to see there's a dessert with Pandan! My first time seeing creme caramel in pandan and it really complemented so well!! The creme caramel pudding was so smooth with the pandan fragrance in it made it even more delish! Definitely met my high expectations, really feel like having this all by myself! Hahaha! Must-try if you see this!

Kopi-O Tart (Coffee Tart)
Haha so funny to see this word kopi-o in a dessert. It really brings out the strong kopi-o taste that woke me up!

Apple Pound Cake
The apple pound cake was soft and quite nice!

Small chocolate fondue station.

8 flavours of Ice-Cream!

Overall Impression: The service here was very efficient, plates were cleared regularly, requests were attended promptly until around 8+pm, the service started to slack..

The variety of the food and dessert were not that much compared to other hotels, which is why the price is slightly lower too. I wouldn't say their seafood buffet was great but overall not bad!

Desserts were fairly good too, but still need some creativity and improvements. Perhaps can have different types of dessert, not just mostly cakes, seemed a little boring. Maybe can have some in shooter glass, or more pudding or some creme brulee etc so that it can make the dessert counter look more appealing, not so dull ...

I was quite surprised the ambience here was quite quiet as the guests who dine here seemed to be very refined, probably there isn't any large group with loud laughter... The staff here were mostly very young and dressed casually and it made the whole place very relaxing to dine at.

This is a place that you must go - Cosy, Comfy, Relax and Not Bad Food!

And here we go - Complimentary glass of champagne from Perrier Jouet for each diner at Baywatch @Jen on level 19 after the dinner buffet (Only on Vday)

Unwind with a glass of champagne in front of fantastic city view!

Their Beverages menu
Very affordable price here! I'll be back here again! :)

I preferred Baywatch@Jen compared to Skypark@MBS as this place is not so crowded, more cosy and relax feel with some appropriate volume of music playing in the background. Poolside + Spectacular panoramic view of the city + Very Affordable Beverages - This is definitely a new Must-Go place to chill out with your love ones or friends!

Dim Sum High Tea Buffet at Min Jiang (Goodwood Park Hotel - 22 Scotts Road, Singapore 228221) Reservation: 6730 1704

Visited on 18 Jan 2015. Min Jiang features a repertoire of popular Sichuan and Cantonese dishes and diners can also enjoy a delectable dim sum selection served on trolleys for lunch daily and a dim sum buffet on weekends.

Dim Sum High Tea Buffet:
Available from 3pm to 5.30pm on Saturday, Sunday and Public Holiday

Price: $32.80++ per adult, $16.40++ per child (Including Free Flow of Chinese Tea)

Entrance

(Photo from Min Jiang)

This is the interior layout of the restaurant. Seriously, I don't like the layout here.. As you can see from the above two photos, the walkway was a narrow straight row, a lot of guests and staff will have to walk the same path everytime so it was very cramped. The restaurant was very noisy too.

Small Dessert Counter (In the restaurant)

Dim Sum Buffet Items Outside the restaurant (Beside the Pool)

You can take the tray from here and get the food yourself from the buffet.. (The trays were soooo old until I can't believe I'm having dim sum buffet at a 5 star hotel restaurant)

This was the only item that made me keep going back for more. The abalone atop was juicy and tasty and the siew mai was succulent too!

Complimentary Xiao Long Bao in the midst of the meal

Complimentary 1 Durian Pudding for Per Diner
The durian pudding contained real durian, very thick and sweet. You will feel very full and get sick of it very easily. Make sure you have it at the end of the meal.

Overall Impression: Probably the Worst Dim Sum Buffet in Singapore! (No Liu Sha Bao, No Char Siew Su, No Egg Tart, No Carrot Cake, No Fried Beancurd Roll, No Fried Mango Prawn Roll, No Fried Yam Puff etc) What we usually expect to see from a dim sum buffet were all not here. The food that they had were mostly cheapo but tasted decent.. Desserts were decent too. Service was ok. The guests who came for the dim sum high tea buffet were mostly tourists, foreigners, and a few locals..

Warning: Do not wear long-sleeve clothes. You will feel very hot when you get the food outside the restaurant. Lastly - Try once is enough!

Shuffle Bistro Bar (3D River Valley Road, #02-03, Clarke Quay, Singapore 179023) Reservation: 6338 9438

Visited on 3 Jan 2015 (Sat). Shuffle is a nice place to chill out with great food & drinks together with awesome 'Live' acoustic music in Chinese & English every night! You can write down your song request on the paper provided at every table, pass it to the staff and they will pass it to the singer! But no guarantee they will sing the song you want lar...

They have different band schedule every night (Please see below). We were there on Sat so the band above on that day was Banana Split. Hmm.. I would say their performance was quite boring. Not sure about other band but I felt there should be some interaction with the audience. What I experienced here was - Audience talk among themselves while they sing among themselves. Their vocal not bad but still need some room for improvements.

Half & Half Pizza (Choose any 2 pizza to form 1) $24++

This is Half Smoked Duck + Half Seafood Pizza. Wow they have very awesome pizza here! The pizza was thin crust, cheesy, with very fresh ingredients and very yummy taste!! Must-Order!

Overall Shuffle has won my heart with their awesome pizza and drinks, will try more of their food to have a better review when I visit the next time. Enjoy nice food while listening to nice music! You can view their food menu here. Their service was efficient too. So far I'm very satisfied here except a little boring band that night. Will definitely be back there again!
