Lunch at The Lawn Cafe (31 Biopolis Way #01-07, Nanos) Tel: 6478 9739

Visited on 15 June 2014 (Sun). I was honoured to be invited by the owner of The Lawn to try out their salads and grills with my partner.

Revisited ourselves again on 29 June 2014 (Sun). :)

The Lawn Cafe has 2 outlets.

1) First outlet is located at Biopolis Note: Closed on Saturday

2) The 2nd outlet is at CBD - Shenton Way Note: Closed on Saturday and Sunday.
(You will find the prices here costs more than biopolis due to the higher rental here)

The Lawn @ Biopolis is a hidden gem nestled within the high-tech firms and lush greenery. The first thing that caught my eye when i reached was their outdoor grass carpet! It gives off a cosy and relaxed atmosphere that makes you feel like dining here. Not to worry if it rains as they have both indoor & outdoor seatings. If you'd like to dine at a peaceful environment away from the city, this is the place for you! :)

There's a little pond by the side. I just love the atmosphere here - feel so carefree~!~!~!~

Indoor Seats

Of course the most important thing is still the food! Rest assured that The Lawn will not disappoint you as they provide quality food!

I'm a person who don't take salad as i find it so dull when the whole bowl is full of veggie! Hence, i was delighted to know The Lawn not only offers healthy salad, but also satisfies carnivores like me. Salads will never be boring anymore!  Come Meat Your Greens!

This is probably the only Specialty Grill & Salad Cafe in Singapore where you get to fully customize your own Salad; pairing your favourite perky greens to your favourite premium grills, topped with the wide variety flavours of their unique dressings at an affordable price! You can satisfy your cravings with 12 tantalising grills and this made the salad even more delicious. I must say The Lawn is really good in food marination. Most of the grills tasted great! Yummy Yummy!!!

This is their salad and dressing preparation kitchen...

Their unique toppings and dressings!

The Grill counter and this is one of their chefs!

You can grab the self service order chit here on your right when you enter the cafe and hand over this chit to the cashier to place your order.

I like the efficient way of ordering our customized salad through the simple steps on the form! They have extensive toppings and dressings to choose from.

Highly Recommended Olive Rice + Side Salad + 1 dressing
The lawn not only creates splendid quality salads but also offers an alternative option - Olive rice, to give rice bucket people like me, a more filling meal! :P  The secret recipe of this olive rice was inspired from the owner's grandma! The rice was not greasy and was fragrant enough, a very fulfilling meal for me. The dressing here was Red Island (consist of sundried tomato puree, grated garlic, basil) and i was so addicted to this dressing!!!

I ordered (+$6 char grilled prawns with garlic) myself when i revisited again. Shiok Shiok!

The ingredients and the salads were very fresh and crunchy!

Chef's Picks - Salad Combinations of Sweet & Chic! ($9.90)

This Sweet & Chic consists of (Chicken with Maple Infusion, Pasta, Cous Cous, Baby Potatoes, Sweet Corn, Egg - Honeyball) I can tell you this is really value for money! It was such a big bowl, full of ingredients with tantalizing grills that only costs $9.90!

Chef's Picks - Salad Combinations of Hunky Dory ($10.90)

This Hunky Dory consists of (Butter-seared Dory, Alfafa sprouts, Cheddar Cheese, Parmesan Cheese, Tofu, Almonds - Wafu) The dory was very very tender and i like the right amount of butter-seared taste. The marinate makes the dory tastier too. Thumbs up for the dory!  I also love the cheddar cheese on the salad, at least it makes the salad more engaging!

Ben's Beef Rub
The beef were done in cubes and they were juicy and well marinated! My partner love the charred part that was a tad crispy - Very aromatic!

Char-grilled Prawns with Garlic (+$3)

Omg this was 1 of the BEST grilled prawns we've ever had! The prawns were super well marinated!!! 1 word to describe - Awesome! We really enjoyed every single bite of these prawns. Must Order item!

Butter-seared Pacific Dory with Parsley Rub (+$3)
The seasoning for the dory was lighter.. Perhaps the prawns were too good, hence the dory tasted a tad bland, not that flavorful. But the dory was tender and the portion was quite big, definitely worth your $3!

Grilled Black Pepper Duck Breast (+$3)
I was a tad disappointed in this cos I like the black pepper taste but the meat was really tough so this was out for us...

You can help yourself with the free flow of Ice water, utensils and serviettes outside the entrance!

You can enjoy tea brand from Gryphon after your meal.

Still not satisfied? No worries, you can complete your meal with Ice Cream Sandwiches or desserts from Tiramisu hero!

Overall, we really like the concept of Salad/Oliver Rice + Grills at The Lawn.
The Freshest Grills, The Freshest Greens, Just The Way You Like It!

I've started to take salads at The Lawn now as The Lawn has motivated me with so many impressive grills to go with the salad. I can eat healthy as well as satisfied my palate! And we can still have a cup of tea with desserts after the meal all at one place. What more can we ask for?

*Thanks to Jonathan for the food tasting invite! :)

Fri, Sat & Eve of PH: 6pm - 3am
Closed on Monday & Sunday

Visited on 14th June and 20th Sep 2014 (Sat). Beer Market is not those usual pubs or bars we've seen anywhere. For those who have never been to Beer Market, you would be surprised to see many TV screens around the bar that show the prices of the beer on the Beer Market Exchange (BMX). Beer Market is the perfect blend of good quality food, music and sports whereby the prices of the beverages move according to demand, creating an exciting atmosphere and interactive experience. Obviously, the concept of Beer Market was inspired by the dynamics of the stock exchange. Buy Low Drink High! Beer Market will get you high on food and beer!

Note: If a brand goes for 30 minutes without a buyer, the price will start to slide.

When the price drops (Red), you know it's time to buy.

When the price goes up (Green), you might want to consider other brands. Prices bottom out when they are in (White)

Almost all the beers are listed on BMX and the prices are updated every half an hour. Act fast to order your favourite brew before the trading period closed otherwise prices of popular brews will keep go up. In short, the more popular the brew, the higher the price! So if you do not want to pay so much more, why not grab this chance to try those uncommon beer that you never had before at a much lower price... (See photo below - The screen will start to countdown the time left before the trading period closed)  It's a fun experience isn't it?

Sofas are for members only. For the general public, a minimum purchase of at least 2 bottles of hard liquor such as (Whiskey or vodka) is needed...

Sports Bar High Table! (Our Favourite Spot to watch football, play darts and pool)

You can find these darts machine and the pool table below at the sports bar! The smoking room is at the left side of these darts machine.

Beer Market not only sell different types of alcohol, i'm impressed that they have quite an extensive food menu as well! I will try one by one on my each visit and update here!

They have very unique and interesting pizza creations here that you must try - Singaporeans' favourite food on a pizza! Chicken Rice Pizza ($17.90) and Salted Egg Seafood Pizza ($21.90) only at Beer Market! Started to drool already?

Chicken Rice Pizza ($17.90+)

The taste was exceptional except the chicken was a tad tough. The pizza comes with 8 slices. I still preferred the salted egg seafood pizza below!

Salted Egg Seafood Pizza ($21.90+)

Wow this pizza is awesome! First time having crabmeat, tiger prawns, and fish chunks on a salted egg yolk base. Generous serving of the seafood items. Of course it tasted salty and fantastic with the yummy fresh seafood ingredients on a crispy thin crust. Must Try!!!!!

Mojito Cocktail at $15+ and Hoegarden Bottle at $9.30+

Managed to buy Erdinger Weisse Pint at $13.10+ when the price is low! Shirley Temple at $10+..

There is live band here as well! Very nice vocal from the female singer!

You will see families with kids in this pub as well... LoL

The service here was good. Beer Market definitely is an awesome place to chill out with friends, with nice food as well as a great place to watch football! Of course this place will become my favourite hangouts from now on! :-)

Afternoon Tea at Lobby Bar (39 Scotts Road - Sheraton Towers Singapore) Reservation: 6839 5625

Visited on 8 June 2014 (Sun).  Afternoon Tea is available from 2-5pm daily except Public Holidays and Festive.

(3 Tier Stand + Only 1 Complimentary Coffee/Tea)

Current Promotion: 1 For 1 for Citibank cards till end of July 2014 - Call to check first!

Price: $33++ per person = Total bill of $38.84 for 2 pax (1 For 1 - Items are non-refillable)

The service here was quite bad. No smile from the waitress and they seemed impatient though i know they were busy. This place was quite crowded on weekends, didn't feel relax at all (Perhaps we were given the seats near their entrance). The round table was super small and cramped with just a 3 Tier Stand + 1 Pot of Tea and 1 Coffee.

Lobby Bar @Sheraton offers 2 types of afternoon tea:

1) Japanese Afternoon Tea at $39++ per person

2) English Afternoon Tea at $33++ per person.

This is the first time i'm having tea from Mackwoods! Though this brand of tea is not popular in Singapore hotels but i love it, the tea is very fine, not too strong - Love the Chamomile! As for the coffee, my partner told me this was 1 of the worst coffee he had in hotels...

The Chamomile tea taste great with honey! I love places that provide a small bottle of honey for tea..

Top Tier: Cranberry Scones
Though the appearance of the scones doesn't look great, but surprisingly the scones tasted very nice with their clotted cream, 1 of the best clotted cream i've had so far!

Second Tier: Rasberry Tart, Chocolate Tart, Cheese Cake, Macaroon, Chocolate Savouri
I like the rasberry and chocolate tart but the rest were average... Don't expect premium quality of desserts here as they were just acceptable standard.

Bottom Tier: Assorted Sandwiches
This bottom tier was the most disappointing part. None of them worth trying.

Only Recommended if there is Credit Card 1 For 1 Promotion otherwise please find better places for afternoon tea..

Was disappointed there is no complimentary carpark coupon, only 1 time of coffee/tea, food very average, poor service. Seriously there is nothing that can attract me to come back...

Lunch at Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck (8 Marina View - Asia Square Tower 1, #02-08/09/10) Reservation: 6636 1868

Visited on 7 June 2014 (Sat).  Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck is well-known for roasting the peking duck to perfection. But we did not order peking duck that day so just try some simple dishes to see how is their standard of the food.

Love this row of cosy settee corner ambience..

Soup of the Day - Xiang Luo Doon Chicken Soup ($15++)
This soup is my all time favourite though the standard has dropped compared to 2013. The soup was very tasty but not thick enough. I have no idea what is xiang luo and i've asked one of the waitress, but she doesn't know how to explain to me. Anyway the xiang luo meat was too big and tough that was difficult to chew, this is the most disappointing part. The chicken was tender. So overall this soup was still quite ok to order.

Sauteed Diced Chicken with Dried Chillies ($14++ for Small)
The diced chicken was tender and the sauce was just right, not too sour not too sweet but it was totally not spicy which was a tad disappointing. A perfect dish of Gong Bao should be able to taste some sweetness + sourness + some spiciness.

Grilled Cod Fish Fillet with Sauce ($12++ per pax)
This grilled cod fish was alright but the sauce was very bland so it doesn't taste great.

Steamed Cod Fish Fillet with Chilli ($28++ for Small)
This was another disappointing dish as well. Though we ordered cod fish with chilli but people would usually thought it's the sauce in chillli and no one would expect it was full of sliced chilli.. Look carefully, it's not just a few slices, its the whole plate was full of sliced chilli! The staff should have told us in advance, otherwise we wouldn't have ordered this dish waste $$...

Mango Pudding and Mango Pomelo Sago
Lastly, the desserts were disappointing as well... The mango sago was too sour that i just don't feel like to consume anymore. Mango pudding was average.

Overall experience: A pretty restaurant with average food and dessert quality. (What a pity)

Service was average. They will only be friendly to those regular customers and they will all stand there talking and laughing with the regular customers, affected those who want to have a quiet lunch.

The expensive prices here is not on par with the quality of the food.
