Lavish Buffet

The Grand Astor Afternoon Tea at Brasserie Les Saveurs (The St. Regis Singapore, Lobby Level, 29 Tanglin Road, Singapore 247911) Reservation: 6506 6860

Visited on 8th Dec 2013 (Sun). The Grand Astor Afternoon Tea comes with a 3-Tier Afternoon Tea Set + Coffee/Tea + Semi Buffet of desserts and appetizers + Live Crepe/Waffle Station!

Time: 3 - 5pm daily except Sunday 4-6pm

Price: $49++ per person from Mondays-Fridays

Price: $53++ per person on Saturdays and Sundays

You will be greeted by the lovely desserts as you enter the entrance of the restaurant

It's a luxury to enjoy Lavish afternoon tea with soothing live classical piano music, at such an Elegant & Posh ambience.. It will definitely made you feel like a Princess here!  My dream has finally came true... :)

It feels so nice to watch water fountain while dining. The fountain will be nicer at night with colourful lights! :)

This is a cosy private dining corner at the side

Vanilla Bourbon Tea from TWG Selection

The 3 tier silver stand was not impressive, very average taste that needs to be improved...

Normal crepes with average taste...

The scones were hard and dry. The scones from TCC tastes much nicer...

I like the 3 desserts on my plate (Lemon Meringue Tart, Chocolate Tart & Peach with Coconut Tart)

Found the ladies restroom was nicely decorated so just post it here! Haha
You will see this chair as you open the door (Like a showroom)

So far the food & desserts were ok, but we'd expect more premium quality from St Regis that can leave us a deep impression. I'd rather they cut down on the variety of the buffet spread but increase the quality of the food. If the food is normal here, people would rather spend the same amount of $$ elsewhere....

Service here was a tad disappointing. We noticed the staff only focus on clearing the plates from bigger table regularly whereas our plates were only cleared after a long time. The service should be the same even though we have only 2 pax...

Of course the sophiscated ambience here beats most hotels! Will definitely come back again for the great ambience as well as looking forward to see improvements on their quality of the buffet spread, the high tea set items as well as their service at my next visit in 2014!

Note: Complimentary carpark coupon available here!

Equinox restaurant, (previously known as Compass Rose) is one of the most popular high-floor restaurants in Singapore, with breathtaking views, highlighting Modern European cuisine.

When the lift opens, you will see this entrance.

Prior to this visit, my impression of Equinox was a very big, classy and cozy restaurant, with top-notch service. But I don't really like the seating arrangements at the lower level (See photo below - aren't the tables very near to each other?) We could easily overheard other people's conversation.

And you need to walk down a step for these seats. The server's counter is just beside the steps as well, so it's very cramped in that area. Try to avoid these seats if you want to have some private conversation with your partner. The aircon on that day was very warm too due to the hot weather outside...

To my surprise, the crowd here during daytime were mostly quite Kiasu type.. and in very casual wear, even with bermudas. So it's very relaxing to dine here during daytime. :)

This was my refreshing Mocktail with an additional cost of $9++

Herb Crusted Salmon, Grilled Asparagus, Cucumber Ribbons & Saffron Butter
I'm satisfied with the salmon here, quite tender and well done but it can be tenderer...

Pan Seared Barramundi, Sauteed Green Beans, Shitake Mushrooms & Herb Broth
This was very ordinary, my partner was not satisfied with this dish as the taste was average and the portion was quite miserable so he feedback to the staff when they asked how was the food. They're very kind to let him select another main course again. (Photo below)  Good Service!

Slow Roasted Pork Belly, Curried Sweet Potatoes, Roast Onions with Zucchini with Cider Sauce
The roasted belly was super tender and fragrant, tastes much better than the above photo.

Semi-Buffet

Complimentary Birthday Cake - Love the handwriting, very nice! :)

Mini Simple Breakfast Buffet at Toots Brasserie (The Sultan Hotel 101 Jalan Sultan #01-01) Reservation: 6292 0740

Visited on 24th Nov 2013 (Sun). Price: $13.80++ per person = Total bill of $32.48 for 2 pax.

Breakfast opens at 7.30-10.30am daily. The restaurant will be closed after the breakfast ends at 10.30am on Sunday.

Breakfast buffet includes a Main Breakfast that you can choose how you want your egg to be done + Freshly baked mini plain and chocolate croissants + Toast Bread + Cereal + Free Flow of Orange/Apple Juices + Coffee

This is a very small French restaurant opened in May 2013 situated in the historic Sultan Hotel. The chef here "Jason Wong" was formerly the Head Chef of French Bistro Petit Salut in Holland Village. They do have very affordable set lunch menu here so you can come here to try his food.

Maybe we were there on Sunday morning and the restaurant will be closed for the day after the breakfast buffet end, which is why the 3 uncles on duty wore very casually that you will not believe they're from the French restaurant.  I would say it's quite an interesting and funny restaurant during breakfast hours that you can try at least once since the breakfast is quite value for money!

Still remember this scene in our local drama "Disclosed"? Yes it was filmed at Toots Brasserie. This restaurant looks very grand on TV but the actual place looks quite old and simple. Probably the setting here will be nicer during dinner time.

This is the mini breakfast buffet placed on a very old table. No serviette provided, you can get the tissue paper from the buffet table. Haha!

Don't be surprised, the croissants here were quite nice especially the chocolate ones!

Both the scramble egg and eggs benedict breakfast were quite nice too!

This is their wine bar. Closed on Sunday.

The small hotel lobby outside Toots Brasserie...

Note: Can park at Textiles Centre (Opposite The Sultan Hotel) Or the parallel lots along the Sultan Hotel.

No reservation is needed during breakfast hours.
