Visited on 20 Aug 2016. English Afternoon Tea at L’Espresso has been popular since the 1970s. L’Espresso is a cosy and relax cafe at daytime and a chic lounge by night, complete with a poolside terrace area. This spacious and breezy terrace has also become an ideal location for wedding solemnizations.
Guests can also enjoy delightful set lunch and dinner menus, as well as gourmet dim sum and sensational cocktails in the evenings.
The buffet spread is an assortment of dainty sandwiches, salads, savouries, pastries, desserts, chocolate fountain and of course, traditional English scones.

Some of the desserts were not bad while the rest were barely decent. Seriously we were very disappointed in everything including the beverages here. I've been to so many high tea places and this is actually one of the worst......
There were a few points of our disappointment at L'espresso:
At this price of $48++ per pax, other hotels offer free flow premium coffee and tea selection for high tea but L'espresso has a limit of only 2 rounds, yet the pot of tea was so small. I finished the small pot of tea and 1 coffee within one hour and got thirsty.
The quality of the food especially desserts, were average at best. Even the top caramelized sugar on the creme brulee was not torched properly, the whole creme brulee was so soft. At this price of $48++ per pax, nothing was impressive. The desserts were mostly petite size cakes, very boring. They should have a mixture of desserts including shooter glass types or a live crepe station. The movenpick ice-cream was not even kept frozen. Most hotels include sorbet at this price, but not at L'espresso.
The coffee offered here doesn't taste nice too, seemed very normal type of coffee.
Service was so so, only the service from the male manager is good.
In my opinion, this high tea buffet is not worth $48++ per pax at all. We paid a total bill of $113 for 2 pax which is definitely not justifiable. Will not come back again unless the price is reduced to $35++ per pax for the same quality of food, desserts and drinks.
