Weekend Dim Sum Brunch Buffet at Hai Tien Lo (Pan Pacific Hotel, Level 3) Reservation: 6826 8240

It's such a hassle to make reservation through phone - Book now through Chope for Instant Reservations!

Visited on 26th Oct 2013 (Sat).  (Only Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays)

Time: 11.30am - 2.30pm (3 hours long)

Price: $68++ per person = Total bill of $160 for 2 pax (Excluding drinks)

Price of Tea in a teapot: Between $6++ to $12++ per person (Free Flow)

Hai Tien Lo used to be on the 37th floor with panoramic view but it has now moved to the 3rd floor without any view after the whole hotel renovated. Of course we still preferred the old Hai Tien Lo on top floor with stunning view.. Despite all these, the ambience at the new Hai Tien Lo is also quite nice and relaxing. What i like about Hai Tien Lo is you can slowly take your time to enjoy the buffet from 11.30am to 2.30pm (3 hours long) totally no rush unlike many other ala carte buffet restaurants with 2 seating time arrangements. Of course the price difference between them are big too. So it really depends what is your preference.

The service level here was quite high and personal. They will assign about 2 servers at each designated area to ensure you can always find the server behind you or around you all the time until about 2+pm when the buffet was about to end. Our tea always get refilled promptly too.

The only 2 unacceptable misses on that day:

1) We ordered Deep Fried Yam Paste from the menu but Fried Prawn Dumplings were served to us instead, so we checked with the server and realised the yam paste was not available but we were not informed at all.

2) We ordered the fruits before we left. Guessed how long we waited? Can you imagine we waited for around 30mins just for the fruits... I asked the server to check a few times but not sure what happened to their kitchen, nobody at the kitchen to cut the fruits?? It's a pity they made these 2 mistakes, otherwise they will have the BEST service!

Unique entrance with 2 statue bodyguard!

Spacious & Grand Waiting area....

香片

Double-boiled Buddha Jump over the Wall with Deer Tendon and Cordycep Flower
*1 Time Serving*  Finally i tried Buddha Jump Over The Wall! The broth was nice with abalone and other good ingredients. But i'd still prefer Sharksfin or Fish Maw that type of starchy soup.. :P

Braised Whole Abalone with Bean Curd in Superior Oyster Sauce
*1 Time Serving* The abalone and beancurd was tender but the oyster sauce was very normal, hope they can improve on the sauce used.

Steamed Pomfret in Chef’s Special Spicy Sauce
*1 Time Serving* My first time eating pomfret with spicy sauce on it.. The taste of the sauce is quite spicy + a little bit sweet. I like the sauce very much, very special!

Quick Fried Hokkaido Scallops with Seasonal Vegetables
*1 Time Serving*  I really love their scallops, the taste was so yummy and they're so QQ! Like those crispy stuff too!

Deep-fried Fillet of Sea Perch with Salt and Pepper
This was very very nice, like the salt & pepper on it and the fillet was so crispy & tender!

Marinated Soya Chicken +
Barbecued Honey-glazed Pork with Almond Flakes
Both meat were tender and i like the almond flakes on it!

Steamed Shrimp Dumplings
The prawns were very fresh. Nice!

Steamed Pork Dumplings
The siew mai was ok. So far most of the siew mai i've tasted still cannot make me "Wow".. Haha

Deep-fried Bean Curd Sheet stuffed with Prawn Paste
I love the appearance of their fried bean curd, it's very presentable!  The prawns inside were very fresh and the skin of the fried bean curd was very crispy too. Overall the taste was so so so good except it's a bit too salty!

Crispy Prawn Dumpling
This was average...

Poached Fresh Prawns
The prawns were fresh with natural sweetness

Deep-fried Prawns coated with Oat Flakes
This was my favourite dish! The oat flakes were fantastic! Yummy!!

Double-boiled Chicken Soup with White Fungus and Chinese Mushrooms
The soup was a bit salty + a bit sour. Not to my liking...

Fruit Jelly Pudding and Western Cake Dessert:
Cheesecake + Chocolate + Matcha
I love their Chocolate and Matcha cake, light and nice!

Hot Cheng Tng
Nothing special... As the price of this buffet is quite high, we would expect at least a Pomelo Mango Sago rather than the Cheng Tng we can find anywhere at hawker centre.

Ok thats all we can consume into our stomach that day. Hope i can try more of their food the next time.  Overall it's still worth a visit to this restaurant despite the 2 misses which i mentioned above.
