Revisited on 14 June, 9 July 2016 and 8 Oct 2016. Colony is the buffet restaurant that has replaced "The Greenhouse" at Ritz Carlton since Sep 2015. Ever since they opened their doors, Colony has been a crowd pleaser. Do make reservations in advance to avoid disappointment.

The restaurant has a modern "colonial" themed decor, surrounded by many vintage postcards with a classy ambience; it's hard for me not to fall in love with this place! And I can tell you, this is one of the most spacious and most beautiful hotel restaurant in Singapore. Especially during dinner time, it transforms into a romantic and magical ambience.

This elegant British-colonial restaurant features eight different conservatory kitchens, helmed by ‘live’ culinary showmanship, bringing diners on a culinary journey through Singapore’s heritage cuisines.

Sofa seat table great for couples! :)

Night ambience!

Quality Bakery Selection

We love this bread with some salt on it!

The Fruit Stall
One of the highlights here is "The Fruit Stall". There were cut fruits as well as assortment of whole fruit selection. Guests may create their customised cold-pressed juice blend from the selection of fresh fruits available and the friendly staff will fresh-press it for you. You wont find fresh fruit juices included in buffets at hotel restaurants elsewhere in Singapore. So far Colony is the only buffet restaurant in Singapore that includes fresh juice options.

Apple/Pink Guava/Mango
Pineapple/Grapefruit/Orange Juice
+
2 Types of Specialty Beverages:
Barley Water with Aloe Vera and
Lavender Milk Tea on 14 June 2016
I did not expect the combination of Barley and Aloe Vera to be so fantastic, really great for such a hot weather in Singapore! But so sad that they hardly have this drink. Hope this will be their signature drink and we can always see it there!

Mango/Pink Guava/Pineapple
Apple/Grapefruit/Orange Juice

Homemade Lobster Ball

I like their disposable chopsticks with their restaurant name "Colony" printed on the cover. Look so atas chopsticks! Hehe..

Their laksa was super good! The gravy was thick, aromatic and quite spicy, with very juicy and tender lobster ball as well as other generous ingredients inside. Must-Try! (Let the chef know if you cannot take spicy)

Cappucino with generous cocoa powder!

You can type "Birthday Celebration for who" at the Special Request box if you're using Chope to make reservations online. For any anniversary or birthday celebration, they will prepare a small cake for your celebration!

Overall Impression: They have a wide selection of food and dessert! Food and dessert quality here were between average to slightly above average! And I really like their free flow beverages from the fruit stall, high quality coffee and tea selection.

(Updated on 31 Jan 2017: Their dessert quality has dropped, they tried to do different desserts from other hotels, but it turned out to be worst and nothing was good)

As for the service, I really have nothing to complain about no matter how many times I'm there. They will assign each staff to look after each section so we're able to get the staff attention easily most of the time. They were all ready to clear our plates and try their very best to provide great service to everyone. We were very impressed with the service team here!!

I have to say if you want to have beautiful ambience + quality food + high level of service, Colony has it all. There is nowhere else in Singapore that can beat Colony.

My own opinion: Colony is the BEST hotel buffet restaurant in Singapore!

*Highly Recommended*

  1. Hi summer! My daughter's birthday is coming up and I'd planned to bring her to colony's buffet. I noticed you had an additional note from 31 Jan that their dessert quality has dropped. My daughter loves dessert and I thought that was disappointing. Do you still think colony is the best buffet in Singapore?

  2. Hi reader, probably because I've been there too many times, I'm able to tell when their standards drop, even a little. But if you have never been there before, you'd probably not know any better. But in my own opinion, Colony is still one of the BEST Hotel Buffet in Singapore as they provide fresh juices and specialty tea with wide variety of food. The ambiance is captivating!

If you're purely looking for nice desserts, I would recommend Basilico at Regent Hotel priced at $88++ per person; Main Course comes with both Antipasti and Dessert Buffet (Only available for dinner time daily). You can click my Basilico review here---> http://summerlovestoeat.blogspot.sg/2015/11/3-course-dinner-at-basilico-1-cuscaden.html

  4. My partner went to Carousel quite a few times recently but heard that their food and dessert quality has dropped. If u ask me, overall I would still strongly recommend Colony in terms of ambience, great service, quite good food and not bad desserts. So far there is really no hotels in Singapore that can beat Colony! :)

  5. Hi Summer, we are visiting Singapore soon from Australia and wanted to find a buffet restaurant to celebrate our birthdays. Is there much difference between the buffet dinners on Sat vs. Sunday at Colony? Thank you in advance.

    1. Hi reader from Australia, the buffet items are more or less the same between Sat & Sun. The difference is mainly in the Grill and Chinese Wok cuisine selections. Both are impressive but the Sat selection would be the best they have to offer. So try to visit on Sat if you want to have the BEST! Hope it helps! :)

  6. Hi Summer, may I know what is the difference in their lunch buffet and dinner buffet? What is the difference in weekday lunch versus Sat lunch? The above pictures you shared are lunch buffet or dinner buffet? If I were to go for lunch buffet, which is better? weekday or Sat lunch? I wish to celebrate for my hubby's birthday but both of us don't take sashimi. Kindly advise, thanks!

  7. Hi, there isno difference in their weekday and Sat lunch. Dinner buffet have more seafood like freshly shucked oysters, chilli crab etc. As for me, the lunch buffet selection is already good for us. So u decide ya. :)

    1. Hi Summer, thanks for your reply. By the way, may I know which type of seats is more spacious for table of 2? The semi circle seats or the sofa seats(rectangular table)? I actually love desserts very much and not too much on seafood. So I wouldn't mind to dine for lunch buffet so long the desserts selection is still as much. I had been to Rose Veranda for hi tea and it seems that Ritz Carlton offers better desserts than Shangrila.

  8. Hi reader, they will usually assign table for 2 at those sofa seat. And those sofa seat is much spacious than those semi-circle seats. But to play safe, remember to indicate at the special request box when u book by my chope button above.(Birthday Celebration for hubby. Prefer booth seat near dessert station) So that it's nearer for you to get the desserts. When is your hubby's birthday? Try to book at least 2 weeks in advanced. This place is always fully booked especially weekends. :)

  9. Oh ya, if you're a dessert lover like me, you can also try Beach Road Kitchen at JW Marriott the next time. They were exquisite with nice charcoal grill items! https://summerlovestoeat.blogspot.sg/2017/05/lunch-buffet-at-beach-road-kitchen-30.html

    1. Ok thanks lots for your recommendations! The pictures of those food and desserts you posted really make me feel so tempted to try it out soon! Last month we just tried the afternoon tea at Tea Lounge at Regent Hotel. It was really good! Actually quite filling for the 3 tier set and we couldn't finish it, luckily could pack home. (The first top tier- cakes). After I had seen you shared Basilica at Regent Hotel, I wish to try it out soon. But not sure which type of menu is good. By the way, the one you posted was dinner semi buffet. Do they have lunch buffet?

  10. I think lunch buffet only on weekdays, not sure how much. Try to go for the dinner semi buffet, very romantic place! May I have your name dear reader?

  11. Hi Summer,

I am Eileen. I am so tempted to try out the top 15 best buffet you listed here. Had shared with my hubby..unfortunately he couldn't accompany me every week/ every month to dine these places as he needs to fly frequently for work. So I got to select at random base on ambience and quality of food. I quite like the ambience at Regent hotel. Just about 2 weeks ago, we had alacarte dim sum buffet at Peach Blossoms at Marina Mandarin. Not bad too. The ambience is good! Oh since you strongly recommend dinner semi buffet, I will try it out. By the way, my hubby had been to The Line @ Shangrila, he also felt the food quality wasn't that good. Do you think it's worth trying? Coz I realized Shangrila had just renovated and perhaps the food might improve? I saw that it provides a wide variety of food esp the desserts!

  12. Dear Eileen,
The food at TheLine@Shangri-La were decent, nothing outstanding. Only the desserts and barista coffee were quite good. Kindly send me an email to summerlovestoeat@gmail.com if u have further queries and we can chat from there as the comments on this page was too long now. Haha..Thanks!

  13. Hi,
I just been for the lunch buffet, and can confirm while the food and service is excellent, the desserts quality (taste and texture) was under the expectations, below the average. last time visited Nov or Dec last year.
