L'etoile Cafe (160 Owen Road Singapore 281953) Reservation: 6289 2872

Visited on 19 Oct 2013 (Sat). I discovered this cosy little cafe on Channel 8 drama (小小传奇) though this cafe has been around for a few years, therefore i made a trip down to explore this place. Inspired by the indie cafes in Japan, L'etoile is a lifestyle shop cum cafe with Japanese-French influences.

The standard of the food here is like normal cafe food, don't expect "wow" factor but it's not that bad too.. They have this very laidback ambience that gives you a very relaxing feeling. They have 2 storey, of course the most popular is the 2nd storey! Here's a screenshot for you to recall this place if you have watched this drama.

Love their 2nd storey - Cosy Vintage cafe.....

Cosy corner....

Iced Mocha & Flat White

Eggs Benedict
Don't really like this kind of bread for eggs benedict. ($12.90++)

Big Breakfast

The breakfast here was ok, quite filling and average nice. ($14.90++)

Vanilla Ice Cream Sandwich

They have different flavours for this dessert, you may check with the staff before order. Quite nice!

Their creative fun hand-written menu!

No studying on weekends please.. Haha.. This is a very popular study place for students!

You will find many types of accessories for sale at the first storey. So ladies, you can shop and dine at the same time!

Opening Hours: Mon - Fri (11am to 10pm)
Sat, Sun & Public Holiday (9am to 10pm)

Note: The photos of the food below are based on their past afternoon tea menu for your reference only.

Lawry's The Prime Rib is a very elegant restaurant with full height glass window and attractive colours of plush chairs that always caught my attention! This restaurant appeared in many Channel 8, 9pm dramas before if you have noticed, local dramas like  (爱情风险 and 小小传奇). Here are the screenshots for you to recall this place if you have watched these 2 dramas.

Savoury 1: Shrimp Quesadilla
Must-Order item! Crispy and Yummy!

Savoury 2: Cajun Chicken Salad

Like the mini chicken bites! A simple and nice salad.....

Dessert 1: Homemade Scones with Devonshire Cream
I really really love these scones with a light rasberry taste and the sugar on it! Great combination!

Dessert 2: Strawberry English Trifle
This is Lawry's traditional dessert that you must try! Light and Fluffy!

Visited on 13 Oct 2013 (Sun). Restaurant week dinner at $55++ per person = Total bill of $129.47 for 2 pax

Basilico is 1 of the most popular fine Italian restaurant with wide selection of antipasti and mouth-watering dessert in buffet style! You can have the option to choose 1 of the main course from the menu with a semi buffet of their antipasti and dessert.  I love Basilico as we had a very warm welcome by the manager upon arrival + they have a very grand entrance as well. The staff were all very friendly, always with a smile and service was good. Overall the atmosphere was very cosy! :)

Omg.. These 2 cakes were the main catch of the night! Their signature Tiramisu cake was so good and fluffy that melts in the mouth! The next cake tastes very nice too!

This strawberry cake was also 1 of my favourite! Love the sugar almond nuts coated at the side with the super fluffy light strawberry cake!

Cassata Siciliana - Something like cheesecake taste quite nice...

The apple crumble was nice too but a bit too sweet..

Shucks, i've forgotten to try this brownie cake! :(

Dessert from the chiller

My Favourite Creme Brulee!

6 types of Gelato! Yummy!

Wide selection of Ham!

My Main Course - Sea bass with barley (The sea bass tastes average nice but i don't really like the combination of barley and sea bass) Will try out their other main course next time! Will definitely visit Basilico again!

Restaurant Week Dinner at Forlino (1 Fullerton Rd, Singapore 049213) Reservation: 6690 7564

It's such a hassle to make reservation through phone - Book now through Chope for Instant Reservations!

Visited on 12th Oct 2013 (Sat).

Located on the second floor of One Fullerton, Forlino is an Italian fine dining restaurant that boasts a majestic panoramic view of the bay overlooking Marina Bay Sands. This place is definitely a very romantic place for couples. But the ambience was so dimly lit after 8pm that it made us felt a little sleepy.. I still prefer their daytime ambience which looks bright and fresh. Service was good, water was refilled regularly.

Very unique long bread stick placed on the rice in the jar

We were served with warm and soft focaccia bread that was simply delicious, it's definitely one of the nicest bread! Am glad that the waitress kindly offered us a refill of their bread and I had 2 of them! Yummy Yummy!

Amuse Bouche
I love this Amuse Bouche, very appetizing!

Cured Tasmanian Ocean Trout Salad, Dried Tomato Vinaigrette
The salmon is very fresh!

5 Cheese Tortellini (Kurobuta Cheek, Saffron Cream Sauce Beetroot Puree)
Love the cheese and the Kurobuta cheek was so tasty and tender!

Pan Fried Filet of Cod Fish Wrapped in Parma Prosciutto
Love the cod fish wrapped in parma prosciutto, very special! But i don't really like the squid ink sauce.

Coconut Panna Cotta (Pineapple Confit, Moscato Jelly, Passion Fruit)
A great combination of Panna Cotta and shreds of coconut! The passion fruit was a bit too sour though.

Oct 2013 Special - Crealto Tiramisu
Ordered an additional Crealto Tiramisu at $15++. Chef Kentaro Torii has created Tiramisu using the new coffee "Nespresso Crealto" which is light yet very nice! A very different Tiramisu from we normally see. Thumbs Up for this unique dessert!
